Cerebos
2009 National Sales and Marketing Conference.
Theme: 'Own It'
The Cerebos 2009 National Sales and Marketing Conference was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Sydney in November. The audience consisted of 140 delegates from the Cerebos Sales and Marketing team from all over Australia.
The event objective was to update the Cerebos team on the company's goals and plans for the next financial year, as well as providing an opportunity for recognising their high achievers and for networking.
Veritas' brief was to develop creative ways of delivering the leadership team's key messages and to provide an exciting program including interactive workshops, team building activities, motivational sessions and fun-filled evening functions.
The event themes were "Own It" and "Cerebos Chef" (in the wake of the popular Masterchef series). The Veritas team assisted the presenters with developing their unique presentations which included developing role plays, video production and staging. The end result was a variety show style plenary conference session, combining relevant information with humorous delivery.
In addition, Veritas created and planned a self-development workshop and a "Cook Off Challenge" which proved a successful, albeit messy, teambuilding experience!
Veritas also looked after the production management and logistics of two offsite dinners; one a radical 80's themed trivia night aboard a Matilda Cruise boat, and the other a Gala Dinner at the renowned Astral Restaurant at Star City Casino, facilitated by Australian comedian Anh Do. We didn't just want to produce a standard dinner - our aspirations are higher than that. We remained mindful that most delegates were Sydneysiders so we had to think differently and develop something out of the ordinary.
The Cerebos leadership team called it "The Best Event Ever".

Arbonne
National Training Conference 2009
Theme: "Ignite"
How do you motivate, recognize and reward 350 consultants?
This year's conference "Ignite" kicked off with a bang! The delegates were treated to a 'Jazz by the Pool' cocktail evening hosted poolside at the Royal Pines Resort Gold Coast, the venue for the three day conference.
The conference opening was a spectacular visual showcase courtesy of the Phoenix Fire Tribe. Our goal was to energise and 'Ignite!' 350 delegates for the training sessions that were to follow.
After a full day of sales training workshops and motivational keynotes, the delegates got their groove on at the 'Disco Fever' Gala Dinner. The ballroom was transformed into a Disco club through the use of clever lighting and staging along with 70's-inspired centerpieces. Veritas conceptualised and managed the room theming, audio visual production including stage lighting and event production. Veritas coordinated a cabaret show of 70's style entertainment which culminated in the delegates heating up the dance to the funky tunes of aptly named 7-piece band Boogie Knights.
Result? Our goal as an Arbonne partner was to unleash the consultants into the marketplace pumped and ready to sell after a high energy event. We at Veritas feel we achieved this, thus cementing our reputation as one of Sydney's leading event management companies.

Cisco Networkers ANZ 2009
Annual Conference
Theme: "Knowledge is Power"
Cisco Networkers ANZ is Cisco's premier customer event held in 2009 for the third consecutive year in Brisbane. This annual event is where network engineers gather for Cisco technical training, education, and networking. The ever growing, high-paced event consists of seven 8-hour intensive sessions on the Monday, followed by over l00 breakout sessions over the following three days featuring more than 100 speakers.
The theme of the 2009 conference was "Knowledge is Power". After nine months of meticulous event planning, Veritas' team of 14 dynamic event planners and producers successfully executed this immense logistical challenge. With 1,600 attendees including delegates, media, exhibitors and Cisco staff to be fed, watered, housed, entertained, educated and inspired, we tackled the daunting task by breaking down the event into bite-sized pieces. By assigning a dedicated team member to each element, according to their strengths and skills, we ensured the event ran like clockwork for the 15th consecutive year.
Itself an event within an event, the conference climax is a large-scale Customer Appreciation Event held on the final night. This full-on party event is conceived, designed, planned and managed by Veritas with every detail taken care of by our dedicated team of event managers and production managers. The 2009 "Quantum of Knowledge" Secret Agent themed event was jam-packed with activities such as rock wall climbing, a casino, ice bars, martini bars, arcade gaming area, fencing demos and a laser tag arena to keep the delegates entertained. Our adopted Aussie brothers Evermore capped off a great evening.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) played host to this leading IT event. For the first time we offset the event's carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits in lieu of 100% Australian green power that was used in 2008 which proved significantly more cost effective.
We look forward to working as a team once again to overcome any challenges, and ensuring the next Cisco Networkers ANZ is an even bigger and better event!

PepsiCo
'Phantom of the Opera' in Hanoi
Incentive Program
I had been to Hanoi several times and loved wandering its streets, browsing through its numerous art galleries, observing its people. There are many upsides of working in the events industry - one of them has to be Vietnamese food!
On this site visit for an incentive event for PepsiCo, I once again visited The Hanoi Opera house. The building, built in 1901, stands as a relic of France's Vietnamese colonial history. It also bears a close resemblance to the famous Opera House in Paris, built some 300 years earlier. I spent some time alone wandering around the building and began to develop an idea around recreating 'Phantom of the Opera' for the PepsiCo Achievers Club. Veritas have worked with this group for several years and I always want to stretch myself and the Veritas team to provide PepsiCo's key Distributors with a unique experience.
On return to Sydney I contacted a friend of mine, the Director of Music at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Sydney. Over endless phone calls, gallons of coffee and gigabytes of emails, we put together two gifted ex-NIDA students as 'The Phantom' and 'Christine' with music by The Vietnamese Symphony Orchestra and our audio-visual production team at Veritas, to create a modified 'Phantom' for PepsiCo's Distributors in a true Parisian Opera House... in Hanoi!
On the night, delegates were informed that pre-dinner drinks and a casual tour of The Hanoi Opera House would take place. After pre-dinner drinks the lights dropped and the Phantom arrived! People were ushered into the concert hall and Phantom the musical came alive.
I stood at the back of the concert hall and observed the group enthralled. It is great to see an original idea working, knowing that, had they arrived in Hanoi as normal tourists, they could not have had such an experience. To complete the evening, we placed a red rose in true Phantom style on each bed as a reminder of their evening.
Producing unique experiences like Phantom motivate PepsiCo's Distributors to support their products.

SUN Microsystems
Sun in Sync... the customer is the Key
"The Key of C"
Staff Conference
Music and surfing are my "other loves". Sitting on a swell off the northern beaches one day, I mulled over a brief Veritas had been given by Sun Microsystems. Sun wanted to convey to their staff the importance of working together as a team with the customer as their focus. The core message was that no matter what your role within Sun Microsystems - the customer is always key.
I walked around with the brief in my head for a few days. Shortly after, I was listening to some classical music on my way to the office when inspiration hit - the idea that a great symphony 'in sync' is an unforgettable sound. I researched the anatomy of an orchestra and learnt how the note 'C' is key to the overall performance and sound. I envisaged "Sun in Sync, in the Key of C" - where C was the customer - using music to communicate a strong emphasis on customer service through inter-departmental cooperation.
We planned Sun's annual 'kick off' conference around music in sync, with Veritas' AV production team working closely with The Sydney Conservatorium, some brilliant actors from The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and a talented facilitator in Tony Squires. That big orchestra sound nearly took the roof off Sydney's Town Hall - it was an amazing, memorable and special event that exceeded all the client's expectations.

Cisco Networkers ANZ 2008
Annual Conference
Cisco Networkers ANZ is Cisco's premier customer event held in Brisbane annually where network engineers gather for Cisco technical training, education, and networking. The ever growing, high-paced event consists of seven 8-hour intensive sessions on the Monday, followed by 123 breakout sessions over the following three days featuring more than 100 speakers, plus a large-scale offsite Customer Appreciation Event which is in itself an event within an event.
The theme of the 2008 event was "The Power of Collaboration". After six months of meticulous planning, Veritas' team of 14 dynamic event planners and producers successfully executed this immense logistical challenge. With 1,600 attendees including delegates, media, exhibitors and Cisco staff to be fed, watered, housed, entertained, educated and inspired, we tackled the daunting task by breaking down the event into bite-sized pieces. By assigning a dedicated team member to each element, according to their strengths and skills, we ensured the event ran like clockwork for the 14th consecutive year.
The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) played host to this leading IT event. Improving on Cisco's 2007 green initiatives, together with BCEC, Veritas helped make Cisco Networkers 2008 a greener event than in previous years. Total event emissions of 215.47 tonnes of CO2 were offset by investing in 100% Australian green power for the duration of the event with Country Energy.
We can't wait to see what 2009 brings. We look forward to "collaborating" and working as a team once again to overcome any challenges, and ensuring Cisco Networkers 2009 is an even bigger and better event!
