As part of the Veritas Events Management Production team we are always out to try and find quick and easier set design options for our clients. Set designs can be as basic as a pull up banner in between the screens to a large white screen, lit with LED up-lights. On numerous events we have found that using Lycra sheets of material has been not only a very cost effective set design but also can be manipulated into various shapes and forms. All you need to create this look is to fix the ends of the Lycra to the truss or drape and then up-light using various colours to create a block colour on the triangular Lycra shape. At a recent Sydney event we used numerous Lycra sheets creating an amazing four dimensional set look. Being in the Events management business for a number of years now, its not hard to see what works and what doesn’t work in relation to AV setup in a plenary room. The number one important thing is to make sure that at your events, your presenter is feeling comfortable on stage. This can be as easy as adding a couple of additional AV equipment within the room. One crucial piece of equipment is a folback monitor. This is placed on the floor of the stage and duplicates what ever is on the main screens at the time. This means that a presenter does not have to turn his/her head during an event to read information from the slides and also keeps their focus on the audience. Another important piece of equipment also is to have a monitor at the floor of the stage which has a timer. This timer counts down the allocated time so that the presenter is not looking at his/her watch and is constantly aware of his remaining time. Veritas has kicked started our year with a small amount of charity going a long way to our friends Zubair and Andrew, two final year medical students passionate about the provision of health care in disadvantaged societies. With Veritas providing them with medicines for their time in South Africa, the boys have been able to help Tonga Hospital in Mpumalanga near the border of Mozambique, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto and an orphanage in Mpumalanga called Michael’s Children’s village.  With tuberculosis and HIV appearing in high rates along with frequent cases of burns and motor-vehicle accidents the experience they are gaining and help they are unselfishly giving make Veritas and those within our event management company proud to be supporting these fantastic men! We wish Zubair and Andrew the best of luck for the future!
