It has always been part of the Veritas Event Management philosophy to support our community through sponsorship of events or by taking direct action in worthy local and international causes.
In 2005 the events of the Asia-Pacific Tsunami compelled Veritas to organise a celebrity cricket event where we raised over $30,000. These proceeds were donated to Starwood hotels in Phuket. The money was used for local community rebuilding in the wake of the devastating tsunami.
In 2011, in partnership with Mandarin Oriental hotels we raised over $21,000 for the Queensland Flood Victims. The Veritas events team created a reward of one weeks accommodation including, flights with Qantas, transfers and Broadway show tickets to New York staying at the Mandarin Oriental New York www.mandarinoriental.com/newyork/meetings/. The MO New York is simply one of the finest hotels in the world. Our work in 2011 was commended by Premier Anna Bligh.
In 2012, Veritas Event Management will support the Blackdog Institute to create webcasts and other supporting material on a pro bono basis for Blackdog and their work in the areas of depression and bipolar disease. In Australia each year around 1,000,000 adults and 100,000 young people live with depression. More than 50% will not seek treatment. Veritas Event Management support the Blackdog Institute, a not-for-profit, educational, research and community orientated facility, offering specialist expertise in depression and bipolar disorder.
